Steven Stoll, age 36, of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at his home.

Steven was born on February 24, 1990, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Daryl and Theresa Venvertloh Stoll.

Steven was a 2008 graduate of Unity High School. While in high school Steven was a member of the Ellington Hilltoppers’s 4-H Club and Unity FFA. Where after many long hours, and dedication He earned the American Degree Award. He was also very involved in pep band, jazz band and concert band. He loved being a drum major where they participated in many parades and won numerous awards. He continued his education in Chicago, graduating in 2013 from the School Art Institute of Chicago.

Art then became Steven's passion. He enjoyed working at the Quincy Art Center sharing his passion with students. He was able to teach and inspire students. His creativity and enthusiasm and love of art touched many lives. Steven was currently employed at the Toppan Factory in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Steven loved sharing gardening advice to anyone, especially his mom, she would ask the same question every spring!! Yes mom, spray for weeds. Yes mom, rework the rocks!!!

Steven had many interests, but he had an especially remarkable love for daylilies. He was active and served as Vice President of the MoKan Daylily Society. His own garden was an impressive collection, containing approximately 900 different varieties along with hundreds of seedlings. Steven enjoyed hybridizing daylilies, carefully creating his own crosses and sharing and selling seeds produced from his plants. He was able to develop new colors by crossing plants and creating new breeds. He was able to share seedlings with other gardening enthusiasts. What began as an interest grew into an important part of Steven's life and a wonderful expression of both his artistic eye and his love of growing beautiful things.

The greatest title Steven had the honor of having was Uncle Steven. He treasured his two nieces and two nephews. He took great pride in being the greatest uncle ever. He would come to Christmas with a huge saran wrap ball of all types of goodies for the kids!!!!

Steven will be remembered for his creativity, his love of gardening and deep passion for art. Throughout his life he touched the hearts of many and made countless friendships. Most of all Steven will be deeply missed by his family, especially those who called him Uncle Steven. The mark he left on our hearts can never be erased, and his memory will live on in the people he loved and the lives he touched.

Survivors include his mother, Theresa Stoll of Quincy, Illinois; his sisters Stephanie (Scott) Altgilbers and Sara (Zach) Cook both of Mendon, Illinois; his grandmothers, Francis Kaye Stoll of Mendon, Illinois and Mary Lou Venvertloh of Quincy, Illinois; two nieces, Raelee Cook and Addison Cook; two nephews, Warren Altgilbers and Case Cook; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daryl Stoll; his grandfathers, Richard Venvertloh and Clyde Stoll; and Steven's life partner Jason Kelly, who also passed away on August 27, 2026, at their home.

Memorial services will be held at noon on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at J. Otto Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois with Ron Tallcott officiating. Interment will be at Mendon Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at J. Otto Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois.
