Obituary

Robert Rogers, 81, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Loraine, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Bob was born February 22, 1945, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Robert William Rogers and Virginia Bernice (Adair) Rogers.

He graduated from Unity High School in 1963. Bob began working at Richards Electric Motor Company in Quincy in 1966. He started winding electric motors and went on to learn all aspects of the repair side of the business. His dedication and hard work were recognized by Carl Richards, and Bob later became a co-owner alongside Carl Richards, Dennis Bergman, and John Funke. After 33 years, he retired in June of 1999.

On June 25, 1965, he married Carol Lee Schaffer, who preceded him in death on November 12, 1988. He later married Ginger Blickhan on December 26, 1994, who survives.

Bob and Carol purchased a farm east of Loraine in the 1980s, where they spent many years enjoying life and raising their family. He enjoyed cutting firewood with his best friend, Donnie Caley. He loved watching his sons ride dirt bikes, motorcycles, and four-wheelers. His favorite place on earth was his farm.

Following retirement, Bob started a trucking business hauling limestone and gravel, where he made many new friends through his customers. He closed the business after 6 years, because it had become another full-time job.

Bob and Ginger lived on the farm for 26 years before moving to Quincy, where they were blessed again with wonderful neighbors. He especially enjoyed watching the “cul-de-sac kids” play and have fun.

Bob was deeply devoted to his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and was especially proud to see them become young adults and start families of their own.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger; two sons, Stacy Rogers (Dawn Earley) of Loraine, IL and Scott (Sarah) Rogers of Payson, IL; one stepdaughter, Peggy Blickhan (Paul Jovanovic) of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren, Dylan Rogers (Kayla Goehl), Delaney (Logan) Friye, Aaron (Justin) Lane, Allyson Rogers (Will Glosemeyer), Caleb Rogers (Ella Alexander), and Alexandra (Wes) Donleavy; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Michele (Steve) Van Blair of Fowler, IL; sister-in-law, Sonjie Kaye DeHart of Barry, IL; aunt, Kay Dempsey; and niece and nephew, Kristie (Doug) Bradshaw and Craig Veile.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carol; his stepfather, Wilfred Wellman; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Jim Veile; brother-in-law, Clayton DeHart; and grandson, Levi Dakota Rogers.
