Marian J Young

Marian J. Young, 82, of Golden, Illinois, passed away at 7:23 p.m., on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. She was born March 26, 1941, a daughter of Emery F. and Verna (Buss) Eber.

Marian attended Central High School. She graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in mathematics. She worked as a substitute teacher and as an administrative assistant at Union United Methodist Church in Quincy, Illinois retiring after twenty years of service. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was an active member in the choir and the Choraleers. Marian enjoyed crocheting. She was devoted to her family. She never missed a child’s or grandchild’s event, no matter the distance.

She is survived by her son, John Young of Chicago and his wife, Aniela Swider of Cape Town, South Africa; daughter, Lisa Schoonover and her husband, Lonnie of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Chelsea (David) Smiley, John Young, Jr., Victoria Young and Emery Young; great grandchildren Macai and Kaelyn Smiley.
