Grace Marie Taber, 99, of Golden, Illinois, passed away at 5:43 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at her home.

She was born on January 3, 1927, in Camp Point, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Ora (Neastea) Reckers.

Grace married Grace married Emmett Pratt on November 9, 1944. He died on September 20, 1952. She later married Clayton L. Taber on September 15, 1954, in Carthage, Illinois. He also preceded her in death on April 21, 2019.

Grace was a devoted homemaker who found great joy in caring for her family and home. She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. Each Christmas she lovingly made homemade candy to share with family and friends, and she was well known for always having homemade snacks ready for children after school. Grace was a kind, soft-hearted, and compassionate woman who believed in the power of prayer and was always willing to help others.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Means of Golden, Illinois; her sons, Jeff (Tanya) Taber of Cuba, Illinois, Larry Pratt of Prattville, Alabama, and Gerry (Brenda) Pratt of Pinckneyville, Illinois; her stepchildren, Dennis (Sherri) Taber of Quincy, Illinois, Diana (Mark) Stathem of Quincy, Illinois, Kevin (Sheila) Taber of Quincy, Illinois, and Linda Ward of Washington State; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her both of her husbands, Emmett Pratt and Clayton L. Taber; one child, T. L. Pratt; her parents; and her brothers and sisters, Earl, Elmer, Roy, Russell, Kenny, Reva, and Wilma.

Graveside services for Grace will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Hebron Cemetery in rural Golden, Illinois. Pastor Ralph Fairchild will officiate the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Otto Funeral Homes in Golden, Illinois.
