Diane Dee Harshman, 87, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Ursa, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Bickford Cottage in Quincy.

Diane was born July 19, 1939, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of the late Richard and Mariam (Worley) Daugherty. She attended Ursa Grade School and graduated from Unity High School in 1957.

On April 4, 1959, Diane married Richard “Dick” Harshman at Zion Christian Church in Ursa, which was built by her father, Richard Daugherty. Dick preceded her in death on October 12, 2022.

Diane began her postal career in Ursa as a clerk, serving in that position for 5 years before becoming promoted to Postmaster. She faithfully served the Ursa community throughout her career, retiring in 1992 after 30 years of dedicated service. In addition to her work outside the home, Diane was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed life on the Ursa Worley family farm, where her son, Vaughn, continues to live.

A longtime member of Ursa Christian Church, Dianne valued her faith, family, and community. She enjoyed playing games, caring for her flower gardens and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Diane was an active member of the Elks Lodge #100 in Quincy. Dick and Diane especially looked forward to Friday nights at the Elks club with friends.

Diane is survived by her son, Vaughn Eric Harshman of Ursa, Illinois; her nieces, Denise (Alan) Dedert of Quincy, Lisa Ditta of Denver, Colorado and Jennifer (Rob) Freeman of Wilsonville, Oregon; and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard “Dick” Harshman; and her twin sister, Deanne Lee Schmelzle.
