Beverly Jo Walker, age 64, of Mendon, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 7:57 a.m., at her daughter’s home.
Beverly was born on March 22, 1961, in Springfield, Illinois, to Chauncey Lovell and Bessie D. (Shaffer) Lovell. She attended Riverton High School. On September 24, 2016, she married James Walker in Mendon, Illinois, and together they shared many years of love and family life.
Beverly was known for her strong work ethic and versatility. Throughout her life, she took on roles such as truck driver, cab driver, CNA, and physical therapist. She also worked as a rural mail carrier at the Warsaw office and formerly managed Mendon One Stop. No matter the role, Beverly gave her best and cared deeply for others.
She was a former member of the South Side Boat Club and enjoyed managing the kitchen there. Beverly loved collecting animals, wildlife, kids, birds, cats, and dogs. She also enjoyed flowers, sitting around the fire, camping, and family gatherings. Beverly was truly the centerpiece of her family, bringing everyone together with her warmth and love.
She is survived by her husband, James “J.D.” Walker of Mendon; mother-in-law, Dorothy Walker of Cordele, GA; father-in-law, James Donald Walker of Eatonton, GA, sons Benjamin (Angela) Drabing of Mendon, William Wieland of West Point, and Matthew Fisher of Mendon; daughters Christina (Adam Crown) Holtshouser of Fairview Heights, IL, Jessica (Jason) Cornwell of Mendon, Kasey Nicole Walker of Fort Valley, GA, Kelly Walker (Thomas Murray) of Roberta, GA, and Meagan Lovell of West Point, IL; grandchildren Christopher (Hope) Thurman, Carly Hamilton, Jordan Holtshouser, Emma Cornwell, Aubrey Cornwell, Kylie Bradshaw, Damien Drabing, Cashtyn Wieland, Conner Walker; two great-grandchildren, Alice Thurman and Mara Owens; and several other grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother John (Nancy) Ladew of Spaulding, Illinois; her sister Donna Werner of Riverton; brother-in-law Donnie (Wendy) Walker of Paris, MO; and many extended family members and friends.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Wayne Lovell; her sister Nancy Streitmattter; her brother-in-law Charles Werner; and her son Jeffrey Walker, Lance Corporal, USMC.
A celebration of Beverly’s life will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the memorial service begins at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. John Ladew will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society.
