Betty Hawe

LORAINE, Ill. -- Betty A. Hawe, 88, of Loraine, died Thursday (Feb. 21, 2013) in the North Adams Home in Mendon.

Betty was born April 20, 1924, in Clayton, to the late Lemuel Gilbert and Nina Ruth Steed DeGroot. She married Robert Hawe on March 30, 1943, in Palmyra, Mo. Robert died June 24, 1989.

She worked for 30 years at Davis-Cleaver in Quincy. She enjoyed gardening and raising livestock.

Surviving are one son, Rudy (Karen) Hawe of Loraine; two daughters, Linda (Bill) Hanley of Quincy and Patty (John) Glascow of Fenton Mo.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna (Gilmer) Johnston of Maywood, Mo., and one sister-in-law, Ruth DeGroot of Quincy.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Edward DeGroot:; and three sisters, Lucille Godshaw, Norma Brewer and Carolyn Higgins.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. Monday graveside services will be in Mendon Cemetery in Mendon, with Russel Corrigan conducting.

VISITATION: There will be no visitation but friends are invited to the services at the cemetery.

MEMORIALS: Donor's choice.
